The Mireo Plus H locomotive and its associated infrastructure have been set up to replace multi-unit diesel locomotives in both suburban and regional transport. The aim is to reduce CO2-related CO2 emissions.
The locomotive was developed and created for the H2goesRail project in Germany. The entire project also included the development of a new H2 storage tank trailer from DB to accommodate mobile refueling. The units presented by the companies were designed for the H2goesRail hydrogen train project.
The German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) supported the H2goesRail project with € 13.74 million under the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Program (NOW GmbH). This program coordinates funding guidelines while Jülich monitors implementation.
