MAPI Zrt: Overview of the funding background
Within the Green Truck Programme (GTP), one important topic is which Hungarian funding schemes exist, and which calls will be published in the future, for innovative, environmentally and climate-friendly hydrogen-powered trucks and the related refuelling infrastructure, which do not yet show a financial return at first. The study was prepared during a transitional period, when two major frameworks (RRF, MFF) were awaiting adoption and no Operational Programmes had yet been officially adopted.
Consequently, at present (at the time of completing the study: March/April 2022) there is no specific Hungarian call available that would serve the establishment of H2 trucks and their refuelling stations.
However, there is “room for manoeuvre”, as Government Decree 258/2021 (V. 20.) created an opportunity by explicitly including, among the State aid categories assigned to individual programmes, that State investment aid can also be granted for hydrogen refuelling infrastructure under the GINOP+, KEHOP+ and IKOP+ programmes. Perhaps the most promising is KEHOP Plus, whose objective of promoting renewable energy specifically includes hydrogen production, as well as contributing to the interventions needed to spread local hydrogen use, the latter highlighting, as examples, the construction of hydrogen refuelling stations and related equipment.
